The mission of Husky Meadows Farm is to cultivate connections between land, food, and community through direct engagement and experiences. We are a dynamic company interweaving food production, education and hospitality.
Husky Meadows cultivates a vibrant, diverse farm-scape using regenerative farming practices. This year we are transitioning to no-till methods. We support a dynamic local food system through cooperation with neighboring producers.
Using our fresh produce, our Seed & Spoon commercial kitchen inspires a creative line of artisanal prepared and shelf stable foods. Our kitchen also serves as a food lab experimenting with new produce varieties and recipes. Our hospitality and educational programming offers unique, immersive hands-on learning experiences for foodies, aspiring farmers and culinary professionals.
We operate a 2 acre certified organic market garden with a small flock of chickens, an orchard, and apiary. We grow for our CSA, farm stand, and prepared foods and events for Seed & Spoon, the education/hospitality branch of Husky Meadows Farm.
As a certified organic farm we are committed to sustainable agricultural practices. We may use a walk-behind tractor for minimal tillage and field work is highly physical.
This position is primarily for vegetable production. Tasks include all aspects of organic production: seed starting, greenhouse management, bed preparation, direct seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing and packaging. Crew will also be responsible for chicken chores and helping with log-grown mushroom production.
Other activities may include small fruit production, orchard production, beekeeping, and food preservation.
Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to work in all weather. Candidates should be mature, responsible, self motivated and willing to work on a team as well as individually. Attention to detail and good communication skills are required. Previous experience is helpful but not necessary. A passion for food, curiosity, a strong work ethic and consideration of others is.
Starting pay is $13/hour. We are a growing company and there is much potential for the right candidate. Our schedule is Monday through Friday 8-4 and overtime pay for Farm Stand on Saturdays (rotating schedule). This position will begin as a full-time seasonal position from April 5 to October 29 with potential for continuing on as full-time staff. Applicants need their own transportation. Housing is not provided.
