About us

The New Connecticut Farmers Alliance (NCTFA) is a dynamic statewide network dedicated to fostering a robust and diverse agricultural landscape in Connecticut. Our mission is to unite new  and emerging farmers, providing them with the support systems and resources they need to succeed. By building a strong community of farmers who can share knowledge, resources, and opportunities, we aim to create a more resilient local food system, promote sustainable practices, and advocate for policies that benefit all farmers.

Whether you are new to farming or have years of experience, you are an integral part of our farmer-led, farmer-fueled organization. We welcome you to join us in our efforts to nurture and grow Connecticut's agricultural community.

Join us today! There are no fees or dues, and no secret passwords. All you have to do to be a part of it is show up, speak up, share, and make friends!

programs

Climate Smart Grants: In 2024 and 2025, NCTFA will be competitively funding Connecticut farms to support practices that mitigate climate change and enhance resilience. These accessible grants are designed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship among local farmers.

Small Farm Innovation Program: This program, in partnership with the UConn School of Engineering, pairs farmers with student engineering teams to encourage experimentation and adoption of new techniques that can improve farm productivity and sustainability. The program is in its first year.

Tool Sharing Network: The Tool Sharing Network is a collaborative initiative that allows farmers to borrow and share tools, thereby fostering a cooperative and supportive community among local farmers.

Farmer Circles: Farmer Circles bring farmers together around a central theme to share resources, experiences, and support each other. These circles provide a platform for community-building and collaborative problem-solving.

Policy Work: NCTFA centers racial justice, farmer economic viability (including improved land and health care access)  and climate action in its policy work and recommendations.
